Learn why France is considered one of the best places to retire
So the question is, why is France opening its doors to retirees and pensioners? It does not need the extra money and it certainly does not need the extra millions of foreign tourists walking down the crowded streets of its capital city Paris.
It’s not that I wouldn’t want to spend my retirement years in France, that would be ultra cool and classy.
I guess, for a country to stay on top it should be open to explore other avenues on how it would be able to improve its economy, what markets to open. If several countries, of less stature than this European Union (EU) nation, have decided to open its doors to foreign retirees, then why not France?
It is a well known fact that these retired workers, many of whom receive hefty pensions after working for I guess 40 years, might want to spend their remaining years on earth in stylish comfort. For them, their first choice has got to be France.
The Metropolitan France, with 547,030 square kilometers, is considered as having the biggest land area among its EU counterparts.
It is a country bustling with activity, from sun up to sundown. It has a very rich culture that you’d never run out of places to visit. For retirees who want to reconnect with their spiritual side, there is an abundance of cathedrals and basilicas that are magnificent displays of French architecture.
One of the most famous, and has become a place for Christian pilgrimage, is the town of Lourdes with the hope that by visiting the area and offering a sincere prayer it would perform miracles for them. I’m sure you have probably heard of stories of people from far off countries making the trip to Lourdes with the hope that they would be cured of some deadly disease like cancer.
I guess Lourdes is one of the reasons why some of the retirees relocated to France. It would enable them to join more pilgrimages and plea for mercy.
They could also enjoy the scenery and enjoy other tourist attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Palace of Versailles, Musee d’Orsay, Arc de Triomphe, Centre Pompidou, Mont-Saint-Michel, Chateau de Chambord, and the Musee Picasso.
After a long journey around the country, they could stop by a street cafes that can be found in several nooks. One sip of their coffees and beverages is enough to perk up a person’s day and contemplate on where in France they would explore next.
