Gel candles comprise mainly of mineral oil. It is 90 percent mineral oil and 10 percent polymer, which is the reason for the candle to have a gel like consistency when done. It’s the characteristic of mineral oil that keeps a gel candle burning for longer hours as compared to other candles.

For making gel candles at home, you’ll need: gel wax, wick with wick stand, wax dyes, fragrance, heat resistance jar and embeds. Once you have all these materials ready, follow the simple procedure to make gel candle.

Step one is to melt wax in a suitable pot. Usually, gel wax takes more time to melt than other wax materials. When the wax melts, add the desired color and perfume to that. Now, pour the mixed wax in a glass container which has the wick placed in the center on a wick base. Make sure that you pour hot wax into the container, otherwise it leads to the formation of air bubbles. If you need bubbles in the jar, then allow the wax to cools bit and then pour it into the container. Allow time for the wax to cool and settle down, and your candle is ready for being lit.
