Whether you are male or female, if you are losing hair or feel as if your hair is thinning then there is a good chance that you have considered using hair growth products to see if there is a good way for you too rectify your hair loss. But as usual with so many products and treatments available it can leave you scratching your head wondering if there is a way to prevent hair loss, so what is available?

The main products you will probably have come across will first of all be hair transplants and then secondly some kind of prescription medication. We will look at these options in turn.

Getting a hair transplant is not cheap, prices vary but it is always in the thousands no matter if your currency is Euros, Pounds or Dollars and more often than not it is a course of treatment and not a one off and these treatments can be painful. This course of action is not for many people really as generally price is a factor.

A cheaper alternative is to use a drug produced by one of the pharmaceutical companies. Now these products do work and how they work is that they reduce testosterone which causes DHT, which in turn causes baldness. There is a negative to using these products though and that is that it can cause some kind of impotence in some men, so that is something to bear in mind. Also if you stop the medication then your hair will start to recede again.

That being the case are there any alternatives? Well thankfully yes because it seems that mother nature always has something up her sleeve to help and hair loss is no different, so following are some things you can buy as supplements or from health shops to help prevent hair loss:-

Saw Palmetto – No-one is really certain why saw palmetto works effectively, but it is thought that it contains something in it which blocks an enzyme which turns testosterone into DHT, and if you remember from before DHT is what causes hair loss.

Nettles – Thats right nettle root extract is also meant to be beneficial for fighting hair loss too, as it is high in vitamins A and C and has lots of other ingredients to it that again have been found to be effective in preventing DHT.

The Final 2 products which you should be able to get from any good grocery store or supermarket are Rosemary and Sage. Basically you can use these along with some nettles to make a lotion to wash your hair with and the benefits of this is that it cleans the scalp and stimulates and thickens the hair root all in one go for you.

If getting all of these different products is a bit too much for you, then there is a company that has blended them together to provide a hair growth product called Provillus. This product contains all theses effective ingredients plus others to provide a solution to hair loss. If this is something that appeals to you then there is a full review on Provillus hair loss treatment at howtopreventhairloss.org

Finally, if you want to try any forms of alternative therapy it is best to dicuss it with your medical practitioner first to make sure it is safe for you to do so
