New York Lawyers and New York Attorneys Fees are governed by a specific format which must followed.

 

There are specific requirements which must be respected by New York Lawyers and New York Attorneys and also DWI Lawyers

 

Every New York attorney is legally required to display a statement of rights in his or her office where clients can read it

 

Generally Speaking it gives clients a clear outline of what they can anticipate from their legal representative

 

1. You should be treated pleasantly and with respect and consideration at all times by your lawyer and the other lawyers and personnel in your lawyers practise.

2. You are entitled to an attorney who is qualified to deal with your circumstances competently and diligently, in accordance with the highest standards of the legal. If you are not satisfied with how your legal case is being run, you have the right to pull out from the attorney-client agreement at any time (court sanction may be needed in some cases and your lawyer may have a claim against you for the cost of legal work donefor you up to the moment of termination).

3. You should be given your lawyers independent judgement and undivided loyalty which must not be swayed by conflicts of interest.

4. You are entitled to be billed a reasonable fee and to have your attorney explain at the beginning outset how the fee will be calculated and the manner and frequency of billing. You are entitled to demand and receive a written itemized bill from your lawyer at reasonable time intervals. You may refuse to enter into any fee arrangement that you do not agree with. In the event of a fee dispute, you might be able to seek arbitration: your attorney will provide you with the necessary information regarding arbitration in the event of a fee dispute, or upon your request.

5. You are entitled to have your queries and concerns dealt with in a prompt manner and to have your phone returned swiftly.

6. You should be kept informed as to the process of your matter and to request and receive copies of documents. You are entitled to enough information to allow you to participate fully in the development of your matter.

7. You are entitled to have your legitimate expectations respected by your lawyer or attorney, including whether or not to settle your matter (court approval of a settlement may be in some cases).

8. You have the right to secrecy in your dealings with your attorney and to have your secrets and confidences respected to the extent permitted by law.
