What Makes A Value Added Network Marketing Leader?
Written by Me MLM-er on August 23rd, 2010What characteristics make a network marketing leader great? Are great leaders defined by their ability to sell products or their masterful presentation of the business? Does the size of a person’s downline qualify them as a great leader? These things may be resulting fruit of great leadership, they are not the things that make a great leader. In network marketing the real strength of a leader is found in the value that they provide to their team and the network marketing community as a whole.
The term value added has become somewhat overused in modern marketing and therefore has lost some of its true meaning. Many people think of value meals and super-sizing at a fast food restaurant when they hear the term “value added”. The true concept of adding value can be summarized in this definition: Giving more than what is expected or required at no additional cost to the recipient. In the context of network marketing, a leader who provides value will go beyond broadcasting new product announcements and promoting the next rally. These leaders will instead focus on providing the information and encouragement moves their team to greater levels of accomplishment.
Becoming this type of leader requires a commitment to give yourself away to both your team and the marketplace as a whole. Your product presentations over deliver with information that is useful whether or not your products are purchased. Your opportunity presentations over deliver with business building ideas and tools that are applicable to any network marketing business. This may at first seem counter intuitive, but it is important to remember that people are drawn to those who make them feel valued.
The concept of attraction marketing is built around this underlying principle. People are naturally drawn to you as you add value to the marketplace, because the information and resources you offer are practical in nature, benefiting the marketplace as a whole. When a person feels empowered or equipped, they will return to hear what else you have to say that may be of value to them. Trust is formed and a natural desire to draw closer develops as this cycle repeats itself. From this desire for closer association, the person recognizes that working with you is of greater value than trying to build their own business in an opportunity that offers them a lower degree of support.
Make sure that everything you do be beneficial to your people and your prospects. If attract them with value, but ignore them on the backside you will end up losing credibility and your retention will suffer. When you observe the top network marketing leaders in action, they spend very little time on products and company opportunity presentations. The majority of their time and effort is focused on development of the person and their business. These leaders constantly provide techniques, tips and ideas to improve yourself while building a stronger MLM business. These leaders demonstrate an understanding that first and foremost our business is a people centric business. By putting people first, the product sales and team building come naturally.
You may want to take a closer look at what level of service you have been providing to your team. Are you a value added network marketing leader? Look for ways that you can improve in over delivering to your people and watch your business grow.
